Brighten Brass with Aquaease 2289
Case Study
As a leader in industrial and oil heating nozzles, our client is dedicated to significantly reducing combustion pollutants for cleaner air and minimizing carbon and soot emissions. These efforts help maintain set up efficiencies and extend maintenance cycles. The facility processes machined brass, assembling various brass parts into nozzles for gas furnaces. The brass used is low lead with approximately 20% zinc content, alongside some bismuth brass and a small portion of stainless-steel nozzles.
To enhance their cleaning processes, the technical team at Hubbard-Hall recommended replacing the concentrated acid bright dip with a safer alternative, Aquaease 2289, and substituting the chromate sealer with Laserguard HFP to prevent tarnish. These process changes aimed to offer cleaning and brightening in one step. The results showed that all parts had a higher shine than those processed through the current system.
With Hubbard-Hall’s chemistry, the company no longer needs to use nitric acid bright dip followed by a chromate sealer to protect nozzles from oxidation.
- Parts are now processed in Aquaease 2289 and sealed with Laserguard HFP, resulting in brighter, pit-free nozzles.
